What is NEW during the Walk at School?
Walk at School is a fundraising alternative to selling products. In addition to walking, students will have the opportunity to participate in other healthy and active events. Last spring, middle and high school students took a survey to gauge their interests. Based on the feedback we received, we will offer activities, such as; Zumba, Knockerballs, inflatables, yard games, kickball, and a rock wall from the National Guard! We ask that students simply raise funds in order to participate. As a result, ALL proceeds go directly back to the school.
Why do we do it?
As a Charter, we do not receive funding from referendums and levies like the public schools do. In order to provide educational extras for students, beyond the curriculum, we must rely on grants and donations. This fundraising opportunity is a way to raise money for our school, and have fun while doing it!
Corporate Matching/Tax Deductions
Your donations are tax deductible. Check with your employer for corporate matching opportunities!
What has the Walk at School accomplished in previous years?
We have started an outdoor classroom, contributed to a stage, added furniture to our library, added a sound system in the gym, and helped with technology. We’ve also been able to award a scholarship to one senior every year.
What is our plan this year?
With the money raised this year, we will kick-off our Comets Booster program, with the goal to fund the senior scholarship, prom, new technology, and outdoor equipment.
How much to participate?
In order to raise funds, we need at least $40 from each student to meet our goal. The top 3 student fundraisers from each grade will win an ice cream party and stay out an additional hour.
If we raise $10,000 as a secondary school, we ALL will stay outside an additional hour!
Volunteers
We would love your help! All KCS volunteers must complete a background check. Email cometsbooster@kcsmn.orgif you are interested!
In addition to all the fun that will be had at the Walk at School, this is a great way of building community within our classrooms. We’re so excited for all that’s in store! Thank you for your donations and support!
